About

Born and raised in Central Arkansas Kaitlyn was constantly exposed to community art and artists. In 2020 she used the covid 19 pandemic to her advantage exploring multiple mediums of art in her new found free time and in 2021 she used the BLM movement as a subject to highlight. These two events would help give birth to her first award winning piece inescapable. The artist now continues to create pieces influenced by the world and her own personal experiences stating “My art is about the hidden. I'm fascinated by the things we hide as humans- or at least try to conceal from others. We hide our emotions, mental state, medical issues, etc from ourselves. The world hides political and environmental issues from us. People hide what they consider ugly, but I'm interested in the hidden world. Taking the hidden things and shining a light on them is my goal. By bringing them to the forefront, showing a new perspective, or telling an unknown history, I highlight these hidden worlds. Looking into and displaying these "ugly truths" is what I find truly fascinating and what my art is all about.”
